Figure out home heating costs as the temperature drops: Part 2
Hello, and welcome back to our series on managing your home heating budget. Last time, we discussed how making some minor home improvements could help keep heating costs low. Now, let’s look at some other ways you can save.
If you have a traditional chimney, it’s probably allowing cold air to enter your house and hot air to escape it. Even newer chimneys tend to be less than air tight and could be driving up your heating costs. Consider getting rid of this feature, as chimneys are expensive to maintain and present safety risks.
Another efficient and affordable way to heat your home is by using space heaters. Because these appliances let you turn down the whole-house thermostat and add warmth to occupied rooms, they can be instrumental in saving you money.
